Business Card

Overview

In this project, I wanted to see how I can create a small piece of myself into a design that I can give to new connections I meet at events, AIGA meetings and friends who might need design work done.

In this design, I focused on my initials, CT which phonetically sounds like "sea-tea" hence why there is an illustration of a wave and hot tea.

Process

Rough Design

The design process for this project took a bit of time to develop. Rather than sketching on my iPad, I started the design in Figma using simple lines and grids to create an easy mockup and find how I want to align my design elements.

Research

When researching other business cards I had noticed how important the front design was to be consistent with the back. During my first iterations, the back and front were completely separate designs and only united by color. This was my first mistake and fixing this through research helped unify my design to make it feel whole, not two separate designs.

Final Design

From there, I took the design into adobe illustrator using the grids from Figma and made proper vector logos for the front. When making the back design, based off of my research of taking elements of the front to the back of the design, I decided to blow up the 'sea' logo, unify the front and back design.

Conclusion

I was able to print these cards out and attended a few AIGA meetings and gave them out to whoever I connected with. The design is a bit simplistic but it still conveys my personality well without standing out too much or too little.
